This is my favorite page on this website...let's talk ducks! I've been guiding duck hunts since 1995. Over the 37 years that I have gone afield chasing our fine feathered friends I have found that the central part of Texas gives you the most variety in terms of terrain, bodies of water, hunting styles and, without a doubt, the widest range of duck species that can be harvested. Whether it be in a layout blind around a private lake or along a river , camo'd up in a temp blind in a back slough or standing in backwater timber of a flooded up reservoir, central Texas has it all. Gadwall and wigeon commonly fill the straps the most followed by teal, pintail, mallards and wood ducks. Central Texas has 2 migrations...the initial which begins in the late fall/early winter and the reverse migration in mid-January when some of the birds start their trek back north. We catch 'em coming and going so the region always has birds to hunt. With the knowledge I have gained from hunting the central Texas region the past 28 years, I know their patterns pretty well given any wet/dry or cold/warm season. My hunts takes place on private property as well as public lakes and reservoirs. I have a Mud Buddy Sport 7000 strapped on the back of a Gator Trax 1750 IntimiGator that will get us anywhere we need to go to get on the birds. While you can't control the weather or the birds, rest assured that when you book a hunt with me I will do my best to put as many birds in your face as I can thru extensive scouting. One thing good about using a mudboat to get to and from hunting areas is the ability to pick up and move at a moments notice if need be and have the vehicle to get to where the birds want to play. I will work hard hard to ensure you have a great experience in my blind. I'm always glad to answer any questions with regards to concealment, decoy placement, reading birds, set up or calling. I do my best to educate my clients so that it may help them be more successful in the field going forward.
