I grew up walking the logging roads of East Texas for bushy tails at the early age of 8 years old. It wasn't long before I found myself in a treestand overlooking a creek bottom for deer. But I found my real passion when I finally stepped into a duck blind at age 13. Since that cool November morning in the coastal marsh 37 years ago I have hunted waterfowl in 7 states with my trusty, black lab, Bart, by my side most of that time. Bart retired at the end of the 2012 season and unfortunately he passed the Spring of 2014 at age 15. He is missed everyday. I now have a new black lab, Bodie, that has stepped in to fill his shoes. While they are big shoes to fill, Bodie, a pup from field trial lines with a pedigree that reads like a Who's Who of past NFC, NAFC, and AFC champions is ready for the task. Bodie is now 5 years of age and a very seasoned retriever and has hunted the past 4 seasons. He is a joy to watch work. He makes quick work of downed birds and has great blind manners.
I really enjoy helping folks get into the backwaters and educating them on the fine art of waterfowling. I have been the central Texas dealer for Mud Buddy backwater motors and Gator Trax mudboats for 10 years and I have been guiding for ducks for the past 20 years as well. I serve on the prostaff teams for several waterfowl manufacturers and fully support and volunteer my time for conservation groups such as Ducks Unlimited and Delta Waterfowl. When I am not guiding clients I can usually be found in a blind with my daughter, Kendall. I am very proud of her as she truly has a passion for the outdoors and enjoys the time we spend afield with one another. Teaching young kids how to duck hunt has become a priority of mine as they are our next generation of outdoorsmen. Kids 12 and under always have a free seat in my blinds.
So come on in and take a look around. Whether you are looking to purchase a rig to help get you into the backwaters or looking for your next waterfowling adventure, I got ya covered. Thanks for stopping by!
